Arts are surely a good example and among the many existing arts there is without any doubt music. Well, I’m not here just to tell you “music is my life”, “I can’t live without music”, “music changed my life”, etc… This can be true, but this amazing medium thrills me since I was 3 or 4 years old.
By the way, what I mean is that it’s something surprising to be able to deliver emotions by writing songs… with the same emotions I’ve always felt- listening to the wonders composed by my favorite artists.
While I’m putting down these rows, I’m thinking that I’ve never had one precise method to composing… I began my job at 16 years old and my songs have been born in different ways over the years.
I still remember in that period I always kept a vocal recorder in my pocket ready to grab any inspiration, any idea that came to my mind… and I really believe that my first Italo-dance track “Banana Boogie” (1990) was created just as so.
In 1992 I started my journey with Time Records and I remember that my debut tracks in that world were “Across The Night” and “Booby” composed playing my piano and singing as many writers do.
Other tracks also had some kind of hybrid composition, for example starting with the chorus on the vocal recorder… the verse by singing and playing the piano and…the pre-chorus… well… singing on old instrumentals ‘til a good melody show up.
I usually adopt this old instrumental technique when I’m requested a certain quantity of songs per month, and…
Lately I adopted a more relaxing way to write songs for my new label: I play my AKAI LPK25 keyboard connected to my iPad with GarageBand running…all kept on my legs while I’m comfortably seated on a armchair in my studio!
