Skarlett O’Neal is the stage name currently used by Italian songstress Melody Castellari. Her family is deeply rooted in music; from singing and songwriting and even production, the innate talent and passion is something Melody inherited and put to use starting as a backup vocalist at the tender age of 15. Though her early work as a singer went mostly uncredited, she began singing in studio for the S.A.I.F.A.M. group as well as the New Music International, in which she recorded the hit song “Inside to Outside” by the Lady Violet Project. This was an interesting scenario in which Melody would be veiled behind another singer, who’s alternate alias Noemi Dee was later assumed by Melody herself. In 1988 she released a solo pop album entitled “Vorrei”, and other singles of varying genres.
In 2002, Melody graced the stage as Princess Nefertari in Guido and Maurizio de Angelis’ production of “The Ten Commandments”, as well as later that Summer at the Castel Gandolfo in memory of Pope John Paul II on August 4th. As a songwriter, Melody has written for acts such as Fabrizio De André, Mina, Milva and Ornella Vanoni. She has also in recently years began to produce music, but still continues as a backup vocalist for Italian and International projects such as Elio e le Storie Tese, Brazilian Love Affair, Nick the Nightfly, Fiordaliso, Flubby, and Time Machine.
Melody still maintains her lead vocals on various dance music projects, bringing Eurobeat to life for Luigi Stanga, Mauro Farina as well as Nick Festari. Her solo career still goes strong as Castellari performs in her own alternative rock band, The Melody Squad.
